Abstract: There are both epithelial and lamina propria stem cells in the oral mucosa. After analyzing and coordinating accepted literatures, we have made a review about the research progress of the separation, cultivation, identification, plasticity and application for oral mucosal stem cells. They will be a potential source of stem cells, which may contribute to cellular tissue engineering, regeneration and the therapy.
