Abstract: Periodontal disease is a destructive inflammatory condition affecting the supporting tissues of the teeth and is closely associated with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other autoimmune diseases, while the precise biological mechanisms underlying this interaction remain unclear. This article aims to provide a detailed overview of the mechanisms behind the interaction between periodontal disease and autoimmune diseases.
